| Rack |
A container or tray in which to store or transport chips. |
|
|
| Rags |
Useless or worthless cards that don't improve any of the players hands'. |
|
|
| Rail Bird |
A spectator of poker games. The name has it's origin because observers of poker games must stand behind a rail to watch. |
|
|
| Rainbow |
Describes a board or flop cards that contains all different suites or in the case of a five card board, no more than two of any suit. |
|
|
| Raise |
To increase the previous bet, forcing other player to call the difference or fold. |
|
|
| Raise Blind |
To raise without looking at one's cards. |
|
|
| Rake |
The fee the poker rooms charge players for hosting the game. Usually a percentage of the pot up to some maximum amount. |

|
| Rank |
1. The numerical value of a card.
2. The relative value of a hand. |
|
|
| Razz |
A form of draw poker in which the winner of the previous pot bets last. |
|
|
| Read |
To determine whether an opponent has a good, medium or bad hand by observing his personal behavior. An inexact science. |
|
|
| Readable Pattern |
A player's behavior pattern that reveals the value of a hand. |
|
|
| Rebuy |
To purchase additional chips in tournament play after an initial buy-in. Often in tournaments there is a time limit as to how long into the game rebuys are allowed (the rebuy period). |

| Redeal |
The cards are dealt again after a misdeal |

|
| Redskin |
A face card. |
|
|
| Rembrandt |
A game in which all face cards are wild. |
|
|
| Represent |
To bluff or imply by one's betting style that a hand is better than it actually is. |

|
| Reraise |
To raise after an opponent has raised. |
|
|
| Restricted Pot |
A rule requiring a minimum-value hand to win the pot. Also called a qualifier. |
|
|
| Ride Along |
To stay in a hand because no bets are made. |
|
|
| Ring Game |
A standard poker game as opposed to a tournament where players can come and go as they choose. Also referred to as a "live" game since actual money is in play instead of tournament chips. |

| River |
The fifth and final community card in hold'em. Also called fifth street. |
|
|
| Road gang |
Slang for a team of cheaters. |
|
|
| Roll or Rolled Card (Rolling, Rolling Up) |
A face-down table card or cards turned up one at a time, usually with a round of betting after each exposure. |

| Rolled Up |
To be dealt three of a kind in the first three cards in seven card stud. |
|
|
| Rotation |
The clockwise movement of the deal. |
|
|
| Round of Betting |
The action sequence in which each player is allowed to check, open, bet, raise, or drop. |

| Route 66 |
A pair of pocket sixes. |
|
|
| Routine |
A straight flush. |
|
|
| Royal Flush |
The highest possible straight flush, consisting of AKQJT |

| Rub the Spots Off |
To shuffle excessively. |

| Run |
A straight or sequence of cards. |
|
|
| Run One |
To attempt to bluff. |
|
|
| Runner-runner |
A hand made using both of the last two cards dealt. |
|
|
| Runt |
A poor hand containing mixed suite and no pairs. |
|
|
| Rush |
A winning streak. |
