To check or decline to bet. |

| Pass and Out |
In a pass and out game checking is not allowed on the first round, if a player chooses to pass or check they must fold. |

| Pass the Deal |
To let go by one's turn to deal. |
|
|
| Passed Out |
A hand in which nobody opens the betting. |
|
|
| Passed Pot |
When nobody opens the pot. |
|
|
| Pass-Out |
To fold when a bet or fold is required. |
|
|
| Pat |
Not drawing any cards in a draw game. "to hold pat" |
|
|
| Pat Hand |
In draw poker, a hand in which the player keeps all his cards without drawing. |

|
| Pay Off |
To call a bet where there is little expectation of winning, unless the opponent is bluffing. |

|
| Pay Station |
A player who rarely folds and frequently calls better hands and loses. |
|
|
| Peek Poker |
A seven card stud poker game. |
|
|
| Peep and Turn |
Also called Mexican stud poker. |
|
|
| Penny Ante |
A very low stake game. |
|
|
| Penultimate Card |
The second to last card in the deck. |

| Perfect Low |

| Picture Card |
Face cards; jack, queen or king. |
|

| Pigeon |
A sucker or easy player. |
|

| Pile |
A player's money. |

| Pinch |

| Pineapple Hold'em |
A variation of hold'em where players have three hole cards, discarding one after the flop is dealt. |

| Pips |
The spots on the face of a card. |

|
| Place Tickets |
1. The second best hand.
2. Draw poker in which the second best hand wins. |

| Play |
To call a bet or stay in the round. |

| Play the Board |
In hold'em, using all five community cards when your hole cards don't make a better hand. If you play the board, the best you can do is split the pot with all remaining players. |

| Pocket |
Cards dealt face down to a player that only that player can see. Also called hole cards. |

| Point |
The value of a card. |

|
| Poker Dice |
Dice with each of a ace, king, queen, jack, ten and nine on its six faces. |

| Poker Face |
A players face that does not show any change in expression or emotion. |

| Pone |
The player to the dealer's right. |
|
|
| Pool |
A pot. |
|
|
| Position |
The players location at the poker table and in the betting sequence relative to the other players. The dealer has the best position as he bets last, the small blind has the worst position as he acts first. |

| Pot |
1. The area on the board in which the antes, bets and raises are placed.
2. The total amount of money bet so far in a hand. |
|
|
| Pot Limit |
Betting structure of a game in which the maximum size you are allowed to bet is up to the size of the pot. |

Nines. |

| Preflop |
The stage of a hold'em game when you have two cards in your hand and there are no cards on the board yet. |

| Progression of Bets |
The increase of the betting limits for each round of betting. |

| Protect |
A hand of cards that is protected by the player by holding the cards in his hand or by placing a chip on top to prevent the cards from being fouled. |

| Puck |
A button or token indicating the dealer position. |
