| Main Pot |
The first pot in which all active players participate. |

| Major Hand |
A straight or better. |
|
|
| Make Good |
To pay money owed to the pot. |
|
|
| Make the Pack |
To shuffle the card in preparation for dealing. |
|
|
| Maniac |
Another name for a very aggressive player. Manic players often lose a lot of money as they play many hands and raise frequently and will often bluff. |
|
|
| Marked Cards |
Cards that have been altered with inconspicuous markings by a cheater to read the cards from the back. |
|
|
| Marker |
A promissory note. |
|
|
| Match the Pot |
To put into the pot an amount equal to that which is already there. |
|
|
| Matching Card |
A card of the same value or suit as another card. |
|
|
| Mate |
A card that pairs another card. |
|
|
| Mexican Stud |
A five-card stud game in which the cards are dealt face down and the player has an option to choose his hole card. |
|
|
| Middle Position |
The betting positions approximately halfway around the table from the first player to act. |
|
|
| Mid-Life Crisis |
The starting hand of two 4's |
|
|
| Milking the Game |
Slowly draining the money from the game by tight playing. |

| Minor-League Game |
A small stake game. |
|
|
| Miscall |
An incorrect verbal declaration of the ranking of a hand |

|
| Misdeal |
A mistake on the dealing of a hand which causes the hand to be reshuffled and re-dealt. |
|
|
| Mitt joint |
A casino or club that turns a blind eye to cheating or that cheats the players. |
|
|
| Monkey Flush |
A three card flush. |
|
|
| Monte |
A poker game with three card hands. |
|
|
| Moon |
1. To declare for both high and low hand.
2. To win both halves of a split pot game. |
|
|
| Moon Hand |
A hand of both high and low value. |
|
|
| Mortgage |
A seven card stud poker game requiring a player to win twice before winning the pot. |
|
|
| Mouth Bet |
A verbal bet not backed by money. |
|
|
| Muck |
The muck is the area on the table near the dealer where all the dead cards (folded hands, burned card and discards) are placed. A player is said to have thrown his cards into the muck when he has folded. |
