| Half-Pot Limit |
To limit the betting to equal to half the size of the pot. |

| Hand |
1. The cards dealt to a player.
2. A player's best five cards. |

|
| Hand Cards |
Cards that are dealt face-down to the player and remain concealed. |
|
|
| Head to Head |
Two people playing a poker game or hand. |
|
|
| Heads Up |
A game or hand that is being contested between only two players. |
|
|
| Hearts |
The suit of hearts in a deck of cards. |
|
|
| Heinz |
A seven card stud game with fives and sevens wild. |
|
|
| Help |
To improve a hand by receiving additional cards in stud or draw poker. |
|
|
| High Card |
If in a round of poker no player has a ranking hand of a pair or better then the winning hand is determined by the player holding the highest card. |
|
|
| High Hand |
The hand in a round of poker that is ranked highest (royal flush through to a pair). |
|
|
| High Limit |
Games in which the amounts wagered are high. |
|
|
| Highball |
Poker games in which the highest hand wins. |
|
|
| High-Low |
Poker game in which the pot is split between the highest and the lowest hands. |

|
| Hit |
To catch a card or cards that improves your hand. For example if the flop contained a card that helped your hand you could say "the flop hit me" |

| Hold'em |
A seven card poker game with five communal cards plus each player receives two face down cards. Players select three cards from the communal cards to make the best hand. |

|
| Hole Cards |
The cards dealt face down to a player. |
|
|
| Hook |
A jack. |
|
|
| Hot Deck |
A deck from which good hands are being dealt. |
|
|
| Hot Hands |
A player with a run of high-value hands is said to have hot hands. |
|
|
| Hot Streak |
A run of good luck or winning hands. |
|
|
| House |
Casino or person running a poker game for profit. |
|
|
| House Cut |
Term used to describe how the house profits from hosing a game, usually an amount cut from pots. |
|
|
| House Game |
A poker game in which admission is charged or the pots are cut for the host's profit. |
|
|
| House Rules |
Rules that are specific to an establishment or are agreed upon by the players. An example is the use of wild cards within a game. |
|
|
|
|
