Online Casino Red Dog

  Red Dog:

Playing a game of Red Dog at an online casino consists of two decks of cards where two cards are dealt face up, and then a third. The player wins if the value of the third card falls between the first two cards.

Once the player places a bet, the dealer will deal two cards. The player can then either receive the next card without raising, or double the bet. The payouts are paid on the chance of the third card falling between the preceding two. If the player is dealt three cards of equal value, the player is awarded 11 times the wager amount.

The Rules :

Online Red Dog is dealt from 2 decks of cards. After every hand, the cards are re-shuffled. In order for the player to win, the third card must fall between the first two cards. If two consecutive cards are dealt (i.e. 9, 10), the wager is a push and bets are returned.

Card Values

Cards are ranked from 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace, with 2 valued lowest and Ace valued highest. Suits are irrelevant in this game.

How the Player Wins:

If the value of third card dealt falls between the first two cards. If the third card dealt is equal to either of the previous two cards dealt.

How the Player Loses:

If the third card dealt does not fall between the first two cards dealt. If the third card dealt equals either of the initial two cards dealt.

Button Descriptions / Player Actions:

Bet - The player can place a bet by clicking on the chip value that they wish to wager.

Deal - Once the player places a bet, the game can begin by clicking on Deal.
Continue - In order to have the third card dealt without increasing the wager size, the player must click on Continue.

Raise - In order to double the wager before the third card is dealt, the player must click on Raise.

Payout:

- 1 card spread: Pays 5:1
- 2 card spread: Pays 4:1
- 3 card spread: Pays 2:1
- 4+ card spread: Pays 1:1

The Strategy :

The following table shows the net return per unit bet on various spreads, assuming a six deck game. As you can see only spreads of seven or more are favorable. Thus the player should only raise on spreads of 7 or more, which is true regardless of the number of decks used.
